The Truth.

Sometimes rinsing out an empty peanut butter jar seems like the hardest thing you'll do all day. I bet even the staunchest environmentalists grimace a little when the peanut butter runs out. No one likes to rinse that jar.

So so true. I don't know how many times I have thrown it in the trash because I HATE trying to get it clean enough to throw in the recycling bin. But then,I can't stand myself and I have to dig them out of the trash can, and scrub them clean. This usually involves a good deal of swearing.

same boat, becky. peanut butter should come in a toothpaste tube to eliminate the guilt.

I just fill it with warm water and a bit of soap and let it just sit on the sink edge, slowly fermenting to hopefully make it just a pour out and be done with it...

but that never works and it ends up just being a rank mess. Couldn't agree with your post more!

best solution i have found: give it to the dog. it gives you both at least 30 mins of entertainment. the dog ends up pushing the jar all over the house, trying to get her tongue to reach the last tasty bits at the bottom. and when it's all over you have a clean [sort of] jar and a happy dog!

Hey Amalia! That's actually a great suggestion. And I like how you categorize it as entertainment.
-Babe, do you want to go to the movies?
-No, Babe. We have an empty peanut butter jar and a dog.
-Good point, Babe. I'll make the popcorn.

That was a conversation between you and Dust-- in case you missed that.
